Our key performance indicators (KPI’s) are not bad, they’re just incomplete. The behaviour you reward in pursuit of the goal is critical when it comes to the long term. Be aware of what you may be overlooking when you measure performance. Your incentive structure it is a key contributor to the culture you are creating. Reliable performance and growth over time is more valuable than the gains from short term goals achieved at all costs.
I’ve always been impressed with Simon Sinek. In this very short video he has managed to synthesize why culture is absolutely key to success. As a heads up, I’ve edited a few words in this video clip. I believe this is a valuable message and it needs to be heard by everyone everywhere.
